E is chronologically 6 months now and about 4.5 mths corrected age.
To commerate, I got him some new toys to play with and also introduced him to the sippy cup. I have been putting off getting him toys cause of space constraints and the ones I see are so one-dimensionally boring that I feel no reason to part with my moolah. (Why are toys so expensive?!) However, because the therapist recommended certain types of items for him to work his motor skills on, I finally trudged to kiddy palace to take a look. I spent quite some time staring at the various toys on display and imagining how many different ways there was to play something (at his age) before finally settling on these two sets & a rattle.
The therapist showed us WHERE & how to place the toys for him to grab such that he wld be working the right muscles and not wrongfully arching his back or legs … & I just thought how complicated adults can make everything sometimes haha. I mean what happens to all the babies without therapy?
So anyway, here’s E doing a model grab & learning to transfer weight on his arms.
Although obviously, ultimately, it is the non-toys that fascinate. I mean who cares about your plushies when there are curtains to chew on?
So far, its been 3 days of morning cereal & he’s getting better at licking/eating, although he needs a break in between to suck on his fingers. Stress-relief from learning something new?
Also got him his first “toothbrush” and it’s quite hilarious trying to brush his tiny gums. Prob feels like a gum massage for him 😀
